We've all heard about the firefighters who have come from all over to help fight the California wildfires that have been raging for over a month, but there are a large group of firefighters that we haven't heard much about, and they are the main ones fighting the fires.

Prison inmates have been taught firefighting skills and are working in great numbers to contain all of these fires that are breaking out. These low-security inmates are getting obvious confidence and joy from being given a chance to contribute positively to the community.

  • This was a feel-good story. I'm glad they're allowing convicts to do something productive.

  • "I see clear days up ahead now". Man!, it really means something. Good one California.

  • These guys in the prison, they got dealt a bad deal and they got stuck in prison. This gives those guys a chance to feel good about themselves. Gives them a whole new attitude man. Great work!

  • @esblc13 LOL your people do that shit to ur clearly have an issue with black people but hey you belong in jail it seems like u like it there.

  • When you treat (non-violent) inmates like human beings they behave like human beings. This program is special.

  • when you work convicts without common compensation its a crime. penury. look it up

  • @savemyplaylist keep your dumb remarks to your self. i would love to see people like you up there in the middle of the fire's helping not talking crap about these people that are making a good change for their life.

  • They should shove these sub human savages in a dirty cage and throw away the key!!

  • I paroled from one of those camps. Did time for DUI's.

I have to say it was very hard work. The prison politics were minimal and you had to learn to work with other races despite the general politics about that. That black guy could just save your life.

    Flew in a Blackhawk, too.

Never a boring moment on a mountain thast's on fire.

  • Yea Okk...

    War is Sooon to Come...
