New York City sewage treatment plant workers have been working without a contract for seven years.Local 1320 President Jim Tucciarelli explains the work his members perform treating 1.4 billion gallons of New York City's sewage. Working with out a contract has caused severe economic hardships for the members of Local 1320 because of the City's refusal to negotiate a fair contract.

  • what a great boss!

  • Man, I really feel for you guys. Seven years without a raise??? Wow!! So sorry that as hard as you men work, you can't even get a contract. What is it with that crooked mayor? He's a pile of dog manure in my eyes. Thanks for posting and helping me fully appreciate those hard-working guys that keeps the city safe from death-related illnesses. I sincerely hope they get the raise they truly deserve.

  • Great commentary it did wonders for our contract! Here is a idea lets take the Mayor , the new comptroller and the New DEP commisioner to Bowery Bay and let them spend an hour in our Dewatering Facility so when they walk out they can smell like cake and have a nose bleed or maybe they can come visit the roofs of our digesters and stand in 3 feet of sludge and have sludge splashed all over them or take a walk thru our prehouse and stand in 2 feet of water with syringes and condomns flying at them

  • Great video Clarence baby.

  • A GREAT commentary Mr. Tucciarelli. I like the way you praise your men for the job that they do everyday. I saw Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs doing sewage work. He did NOT look like he enjoyed it at all!!! I hope your men get a very large contract for ALL the years they have worked without one! Please continue to keep our water clean and disease free.

  • The working conditions and health hazards these men face daily to keep our waterways clean, warrent a timely and long overdue fair wage increase. NYC has long overlooked all level of employees at D.E.P., STW, SSTW, SEE, SSEE, respectively seven to fourteen years without a raise, We New Yorkers are paying more and more for our sewer and water service where's that money going, not to DEP employees, that's for sure.

  • Awesome, these guys should get a contract immediately.

    Bloomberg get on the stick.
