Medicare, Medicade and SS are not welfare - they are entitlements that those of us who have worked our whole life paying taxes into those programs are able to draw from them when we reach retirement age. You are paying into them too if you pay taxes - depending on your age, you will never see a return on your money.

@richardcblaine72 what jobs? you mean at Mcburger's making min wage? Even if they did the poor still wouldn't be able to afford healthcare. If the poor don't work maybe we can find something for them to do that actually treats them like human beings. Pretty crazy idea i know (sarcasm).

@alanckaye Medicare is big time welfare. The taxes paid in don't even begin to cover the money that goes out. It's a disaster.

You aren't entitled to anything. You paid a tax. That's it. It costs far more to run Medicare than it takes in in Medicare taxes and it's on track to bankrupt the country. People on Medicare had their whole lives to get it together and save. Now they want a bunch of kids making minimum wage to pay more into medicare to support them. Fuck that.

In the last election (2008) the republicans say they want to repeal healthcare (which helps the poor) and they scared a lot of people to vote for them. They use the code word "entitlements" all the time but not tell voters they would cut soc sec/medicare (many of them also want repeal min wage). At least i never heard them say this directly. After they win they imm cut programs for poor and keep tax cuts for rich and spending for military. They lied to the public and should be voted out asap.
