It is a shame that it was closed.  I have seen earlier pictures of this ride, where the buclets were round, instead of square.

I know why this ride closed. Idoits would get in the cars and shake them back and forth. It made the other cars in front and behind to swing wildly. Scare the shit out of the other people cause there were no belts to keep you in..

damn i remember that ride i didn't realize they removed it so long ago... i remember it seemed to be alot higher up than this video shows, maybe cuz i was little then..

this ride did not get removed in 81'. I rode it in 91' it closed sometime in the middle to late 90s from an accident I believe.

SFSTL used to have a skyride like that. There was a fatal accident in 1978 and then the ride got removed in 1981 cause the park was too cheap to repair it like Disney and the ridership had dropped as a result of the accident. I believe that's why soo many of these rides are gone. That and the rest of the industry got too thrill oriented. VR101s are like tanks you fix'em up they will run forever.

another reason was cause guests riding the skyway would spit on guests walking below

mickey and minny were right behind me in orange 40.the last gondola.i stepped off in tomorrowland as orange 40 passed through the matterhorn.

this is why i use to love the skyway! because of the amazing view of the park! thank God than i record my own videos of the skyway ^^

definly disneyland(for me) looks diferent than on the 90` well thats what i think :S
