Very interesting to compare this to Dara Carroll's 1972 recording of the same piece. Carroll, a New College boy, uses what has become the classic clean, pure, emotionally-restrained, straight-toned English choirboy style. Neely, a couple of years older, has vibrato and lots more light and shade and emotional expression. Such a big style change in just twenty-two years.

Clarity, directness, superb tone, diction and all round artistry put this recording of this great song right at the top. Thank you (Master) Billy and prostoNN. Was the great Gerald Moore the Acconpanist here or is my memory letting me down as it does so often these days???

It's a joy. I am singing along, at age 79. Of course I'm a girl. The song is nicely pitched for me. Hi, Billy. Love your music.

Lovely.
Thank you, Bob. Billy's talent still moves my soul, and the time doesn't matter. If you know him please pass the words of delight and gratitude from his Belarusian adorer :).
