i really feel like crying knowing that some teens now wont give a shit about these movies. Soon they will dissapear and the Movies for money will take over. :(
What I'm getting at, I guess, is that Disney has always been commercial. The thing was that Walt wanted to make money to make movies, not the other way around... That philosophy may have gotten somewhat watered down over the years, but that didn't stop Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin etc. from being GREAT movies! And they were made by new artists, whereas Robin Hood (terribly cheap and episodic film in my humble opinion) was animated and directed by many of Walt's original Nine Old Men.
Actually, according to many (myself included), the general "standard" of cartoons (if such a thing exists) has gone severely up and down over the years. In the 60s and 70s, for example, Disney were making some of their weakest cartoon features ever, as "The Sword in the Stone" and "Robin Hood". Then in the late 80s-early 90s the studio experienced a great resurgence in talent and energy, and made great films again. After that it's kinda been going downhill, and so on...

I loved this when I was like four months old. I would watch it and burst into hysterical laughter when Pinocchio falls down the stairs xD
nowadays it's all High School Musical, Miley Cyrus and Pixas!!
Whoever owns the Disney company these days must be a wicked wicked person. I have reasons to think this...
Disney's lucky to have John Lasseter.
