Was life better then ? ; certainly seems that way looking back ; it was definitely much less complicated.Lots of people didnt even NEED bank accounts for a start and technology hadnt quite yet decimated the employment world

@MOONST0MP The actress was called Stephanie Turner (later replaced by Anna Carteret) she also played Carter's wife in "THE SWEENEY".

This bit seems to be filmed mostly in Todmorden.

Yes, certain scenes were filmed in Todmorden. The police station (exterior) was the real police station in Bacup, and Rawtenstall doubled as lots ot town scenes in "Hartley".
