  • (Cont.): Her Dad slept with a pistol under his pillow because he had been threatened by Hitler's brownshirts to join the Nazi party. Her brother (age 13) skipped out on all the Hitler youth meetings. He was later taken by the Red Army and never heard from again. One day she plays on their farm and the next, a refugee being strafed and lined up in front of machine guns. Her story represents the individuals, caught in this madness. The victims and the survivors. It's not one-sided. It's messy.

  • Remember this is HER story. An innocent child's perspective. A child that survived the horrors of war. Her story will inspire most once it's all public. No matter what point of view you hold, it's about making it against all odds, never giving up hope, inner strength, being clever, Divine intervention, luck and pursuing your dreams. She doesn't deny what happened. We aren't Nazi sympathizers. She's married a to an American veteran. She was a little girl that wanted to survive and she did.

  • Stalins army was worse than Hitlers. How Churchill and Roosevelt allied themselves to Stalin defies Logic or Decency.

  • One crime does not justify another. Terrorizing civilians is wrong, no matter what the nationality of the perpetrators or the victims. All crimes against humanity are wrong. Jesus teaches 'Treat others the way you want to be treated yourself', or words to that effect.

  • Bringing up German abuses in the East doesn't serve as any sort of adequate response. German absues are well-documented. The Soviet rape of Germany is largely untold, THAT is the point.

  • @Alar201169 Many women and girls were mass raped and also murdered. What about this little story? /watch?v=upXJ8ijE-z0&feature=related ? She also got it very easy?

I know that in Ukraine happened terrible crimes and all those stories have to be told. But just offsetting crimes and suffering against other crimes and suffering insults ALL the victims. Your posts only show me that there are heartless people everywhere.

  • My mother lived in occupied Ukraine. She remembers painful hunger, in winter playing between copses, laying on the street. She remembered the rule 'not to be seen or heard by Germans' or child could get killed, taken as blood donor (Germans used lots of kids as blood donors), people called to watch medieval hangings, killing and raping, running away from bombing. I think she got it very easy.

  • Maybe she should tell what Germans did on Eastern front. Then this story will look like a fairy tale.

  • My family lived in occupied Ukraine. They witnessed many Soviet women were raped and killed with their families. Estimates are that 10 million Soviet women were raped. Germans were also very filthy, they brought sexually transmitted diseases and other infection. Germans had no idea about sanitation, pissed and shit on the streets, were drunk while killing people on streets like stray dogs.

  • My mum was 4 in winter 1941 in occupied Ukraine. The memory is that one morning she heard lament from next door house. My mum and gran run outside. Germans were taking young woman with her baby away from her in-laws home. Woman was stretching her arms to pass baby to others. German 'hero' hit baby with his gun so bub stopped crying and fell in the snow, dead. The woman was raped and killed in front of the horrified crowd. German 'heros' took photos to sent home. Sad not all family photos shown.

  • well, i think there were a lot of cases of rapes (russian soldiers were not known for disciplines) but i doubt the claims of mass rapes. on youtube, you can find plenty of vids (colored) from may14th, 1945 to july of berline. in those vids, there were a lot of german women on the streets and most of them seemed to be quite relaxed, with columns of russian soldiers walking by.

  • As far as I know the Germans never committed mass rapes during WWII. We could count individual cases, but all that bullshit about Nazis mass raping women is pure propaganda. It survives only as a soviet propaganda myth. You can blame nazis for mass murdering but mass rapes is one of those things that lack proofs. And when I see documentaries or comments where people claim nazis committing mass rapes, I laugh. Never happened. However, there were cases of Soviets raping their own Russian women.
