The repeal of the Group areas act in 1991 sounded the death knell for civilised Western Standards all over SA. Joburg was already fairly cosmopolitan and it was natural that without the act to regulate control, it would gravitate to the lowest common denominator in an eye-blink. Nigerians, gangsters, drugsters, zimbo refugees, you name it, the lowest of the low now call it home....

I live in Bryanston in Sandton, South Africa. Wish we could leave this country because of the crime and steadily decaying infra-structure, as well as corruption in government, racism against whites, torture and murder of farmers... it gets worse by the day. My sister had a lovely house in Becker Street Yeoville. She bought it in 1980 and Yeoville was still a leafy tranquil suburb, with Rockey Street being a trendy place with humming night-life and great shopping. These photos are sadly true.

Thanks for your comments! SA has become a State of denial, an enemy of Truth... I mentioned in various previous comments how I used to help the "Hole in Wall" charity in Berea, where destitute mothers with newborns can give their babies up for adoption straight after birth, no hassles, no questions, just put the baby in the receptacle....Now today I see another headline where a newborn was dumped in a fucking dustbin in JHB and froze to death! Sad Hey!
