Classic Game Room reviews SONIC THE HEDGEHOG: POCKET ADVENTURE for the SNK Neo-Geo Pocket Color from 1999. This CGR review of Sonic Pocket Adventure from Sega for NeoGeo has gameplay from Sonic The Hedgehog Pocket Adventure on Neo Geo Pocket Color showing Sonic gameplay in Black and White HD. This 2D side scroller is like a remixed version of earlier Sonic games from the Sega Genesis like Sonic 2. Sharp visuals, good music and responsive gameplay make this a solid outing on the relatively obscure Neo Geo Pocket and show the potential of SNK's handheld videogame device.

2:04 omg, he actually touched the chaos emerald! all these years making it to the end of the bonus round and seeing it fly just out of your reach, despite the claim that you got the chaos emerald, but now, it's shiny crystal surface is finally in the tight firm grip of sonic's glove!

That is one fine handheld screen for the 90s, even without a backlight.

@yumyum97 Not quite. The Neo Geo Pocket Color wasn't owned by Sega, so Sonic's appearance actually was an anamoly. The Gameboy was owned by Nintendo. Sega's handheld system was the Game Gear.
