  • Ignored this game back in the day. I love it now!

  • @Bloodreign1 Some sources say it was the North American division of Capcom that sued Data East, but according to the popular Japanese gaming magazine GAMEST, Data East's largest objection in court was their 1984 Karate Champ arcade was the true originator of the genre, predating the first Street Fighter by 3 years.

Even though there were already some fighting games earlier than 1984 while some were in development at the same time, Karate Champ was the first to popularize the genre.

  • I remember the whole Capcom lawsuit over the original Fighters History game release, unfortunately for Capcom, they didn't win, and the series got started. Not a long series, but it's a decent fighter nonetheless.
