Christina Aguilera wins Best New Artist @ 2000 Grammys

Christina Aguilera wins the Best New Artist Grammy in 2000, beating then hot favourite, Britney Spears. This is the first of four Grammys Christina has won thus far. She also received a Latin Grammy in 2001 for her Spanish album, Mi Reflejo.

I loved this because Christina, I get the feeling, always felt she was chasing Britney's spotlight. Britney has much undeserved fame (I mean yeah her music is good for dancing, but there is more to music and life than just a good beat) and Christina who had the incredible voice was always coming in second. This was her night to shine and it shows that even though Britney was successful, Christina's talent was recognized by the people who count in the industry. Love it.

@vitaluv Lastly, just because most of Brit's music is uptempo, dance beats doesn't mean that it doesn't or can't have the same deep, hard-hitting, emotional effect on someone's life the way that Christina's "Hurt' can have on someone as well. Just because you haven't experienced it doesn't meant it doesn't exist. I'm not a Christina fan, but I'm not gonna go out of my way to discredit her or disenfranchise her. It's the classic trap, and as a Christina fan, you should be above that.

@Vitaluv Though I am glad and believe Christina should've won this category, I don't believe that Britney's music is less significant or that her fame is undeserved in any capacity. She has proven that she works just as a hard if not harder than anyone else. Thus, her deserved fame is massive. In my opinion, Britney's music is better, dance and ballad wise. Does Christina have the better voice-obviously, but that doesn't automatically make her music better or worse than her counterparts

some of you are pretty stupid. Christina is hugely talented and deserved this grammy, not to mention that her album had already gone 5X platinum at this point so she was already a household name. She had both the Talent+Success to back this up.

Cause all the shitty haters downloaded it illegally and listened to it secretly in their rooms while talkin trash on the web. iLeaks said that Bionic was one of the most illegally downloaded albums of 2010, as Not Myself Tonight was the 5th most illegaly downloaded song of 2010.
