A short, joyful prelude on the Advent chorale Herr Christ, der ein'ge Gottes-Sohn, from JS Bach's Orgelbüchlein. Composed circa 1713 when Bach was organist to the ducal court at Weimar, Thüringen. Performed here by British organist, Ian Ball on the 1973 Rieger organ of Clifton Cathedral, Bristol, England.

@trdj2020 Yes. It's represented in its original state by "Of the Father's Love Begotten," and in this state (the tune "Gud Faders Son Embaarne") that Bach used with the English words:

The only Son from Heaven,

Foretold by ancient seers,

By God, the Father, given,

In human shape appears;

No sphere His light confining,

No star so brightly shining

As He, our Morning Star.

I do not recall what hymnal it is from however. Perhaps the Episcopal Church's Hymnal 1982?

Is the hymn tune represented in BWV 601 in any of the modern hymnals and if so under what "tune name"???
