Drew is such a sweet boy.

@TurnOnMyEars, I know you posted this last year but I just have to say your son is absolutely beautiful and talks perfectly. I never had to read the bubbles you posted as he was speaking. Very lovely family!

@NiHaoVince hearing people who implant babies/children never think about stuff like that they just hastily do whatever the so called experts tell them is best.
-
@NiHaoVince of course they didnt teach him sign language.

He is brilliant! bless him

I had to watch a video on cochlear implants for ASL class, and I've watched a couple videos you put up of Drew. I'm so happy the cochlear implants worked for him. I'm surprised on how well he talks. If you didn't know he was deaf I don't think you would be able to tell. He seems like such a lively and talkative kid.

did you teach your child sign language? What happens if the cochlear receiver is damaged or stops working? He wont be able to communicate

@NiHaoVince Drew knows a couple of signs he's picked up from some of the non-oral kids in his school. If both internal implants fail at the same time, we'll have to get him quickly up to speed on how to understand what we would sign to him. We'll have no trouble hearing what his needs are, though.
