The largest of the mass produced Cox glow engines, the Medallion 15, on the test stand after being woken from its 40 year slumber. This is a 2.5cc glow engine made in the USA from the early 1960s until some time in the 1980s. This one was made in the late 1960s, and according to the seller spent most of that time sitting in a desk drawer until I bought it from him on eBay.
The fuel is 70% methanol, 20% castor oil, 10% nitromethane. The propeller is a Master Airscrew GF/3 series 8x4. The best RPM seen during this run was 13,600, but the following run it managed to hit 13,800 with a bit of tweaking.
