2011 5.0 vs 67' 331 Stroker Mustang

a buddy and I went out to run my new 5.0 against his built 331 stroker. It was a baseline run until I change my gears from 355s to 373s. My dealer couldn't find one in the Southeast with 373s.

I realized after the runs that my air conditioner was on along with my traction control. Every time I changed gears it was almost like I pulled my ebrake up for half a second.

The 67' is a machine!

@ztwntyn8 yeah three people. We were on our way to run some twisties and decided to run them a couple times. Weve tried to get together a couple times since this video to race but havent been able to work our schedules out. I know without a doubt i would win this time. I know the car its broken in and no longer stock.

@1txpipeliner i know its hard for you to understand since your nice ass 67 doesnt have traction control but its the reason you dont hear a chirp. Just for you i will record a nee video tonight. One run with traction control off and one with it on. And yes i know i cant drive cause i left traction control on. even though you say youre done you will check back to watch the vid. And its all good. On another note is your 67 a step side. My poos had a clean one when i was young.

Btw u can try and make me believe that was rev limiter if ya want but I kno better. Ur foot was lifted and thz clutch was applied just admit it dude u can't f n drive. @1txpipeliner like i said put up a vid. Until then i doubt it. If it wasnt the rev limiter then why did i say it in the video.again i say check my account in the morn. I will post a video just for you.finally i know 100% that i can out drive you in whatever race you would like to run. Im not saying my 400 hp mustang can hang with your 700 hp truck but if we were in equal cars i would spank you. If you wanna find out, rent a 5.0 and pick a race track. I live in birmingham al. Cool Video. It is a shame that everybody is running their mouths. I like the Stangs and like seeing both of the drivers enjoying a friendly challenge. The new 5.0 is a mean car. I love that Ford has kept the car industry chasing their Pony cars for 47 years now. I have owned at least one Mustang for 38 years now. Always liked them and always will. I'm gonna run a 331 with beefed heads and a B A cam in my '72 Effie, not sure what trans i want to run, but i only have a $4000 budget, so can only go so fancy, lol.

3.73 gears won't do anything for you over 3.55s unless you are launching at 6000 rpm full throttle on slicks. Then gears will get you a better 60'. But on the street and especially from a roll, there is no difference even between 2.73 and 4.10 gears. Sometimes 2.73s are better because you can hold the gears out longer. My bud with 2.73s pulled my 3.73 car on the street even tho I out trap him by 2 mph.
