Well, forgive my hyperbole, I just tend to get a little overenthusiastic when it comes to such underrated recordings. :P

Well, I'd say the Fifth is one of the less extraordinary recordings of this cycle, the Eroica, the Seventh and the Eighth are even more stunning especially the Seventh, the only one that compares to it for me is Erich Kleiber's 1950 one, both resist the temptation to accelerate during the final movement, Leibowitz hammers the layered, irritating rhythm into your ear with a cathartic vehemence I've never heard in another versions, save for Kleiber's.
