It was a workers uprising and many of them believed in a idea of socialism that was libertarian and democratic and not of the Marxist, Leninist type and not of the capitalist type. Magyar young men kill themselves in world record numbers because for many of them the moment in 1956 and in 1989 is their world...the world of the capitalists stealing their money & of the authoritarian marxists pushing them around and killing them is not their world. LONG LIVE MOMENT OF FREEDOM.

@TheGreaterGood80 Nah, it's too much fun irritating uppity little hebes like you.
-
@brodl1 that's your comeback? Once again, this is your reasoning "people I disagree with=Jews". You're seriously too fucking stupid to live, wasting valuable oxygen for thinking people who might need it. Kill yourself, does us a favor
-
@TheGreaterGood80 It didn't matter that your mother didn't drop you on your head. You were already brain dead, shlomo.
-
@brodl1 1) I'm not Jewish 2) I've never been to the wretched "Holy Land" and I don't particularly like flushing my taxes down the toilet in that region of the world 3) I don't speak a word of Hebrew 4) Israel and their Palestinian enemies' holy war is of zero concern to an atheist like me and is not a conflict I take any side in 6) You're a fucking imbecile if you right people who disagree with you as Jews. I'm sorry your mom dropped you on the head when you were little

On January 6, 1957, Elvis Presley asked Ed Sullivan to request those watching the program to send contributions to help thje refugees which suffered from the invasion, which started on October 24, 1956. It brought about, in a period of 12 months, contributions in excess if SFR 26 million. At the then exchange rate (4.34 SFR per US$), this translated into US$6 million in 1957 dollars which when adjusted for inflation would represent a staggering US$44 million in today´s dollars.
