This is my 1985 Audi 5000. I still have the window sticker from this car. The video is from ~1995. I'm proud of some of my tweaks. The fake 'el-cheapo' car stereo faceplate that I used to hide my super-incredible JVC head unit. And the hole I cut out behind the back seat to mount my CD Changer (so I didn't have to go out into the trunk when it was raining). Back to the JVC- that thing had a AUX jack that would let yoiu plug your iPod into. But it came out in 1989!!! Also, notice the center console... the 1985 Audi 5000 didn't come with one! Shawn helped me get that piece from a salvage yard, and I made brackets and carpetted the sides.

I have always been a huge fan of the Audi 5000. I feel that vehicle, and the Benz 190, gave birth to modern automobile design, what I call the 'molded' look. If you look at the styling of cars American cars from the mid 80's and the late 80's, it is startling. One by one, U.S. cars went from chrome
bumpers and choppy steel bodies to suddenly looking like they were formed out of a plastic mold.

The Mercedes Benz 190 was introduced in 1993.
The Audi 5000 was 'born' in Germany in 1983 as the 100.
At Chrysler, the '87 Le Baron coupe was their first new-age design.
At GM, I believe the change started with Boneville SSE in '87, and then the Grand Prix SE in '88.
At Ford, I think the '86 Taurus is the most vivid example of the revolution.

  • I've always loved Audis of the 80s, probably more so than the 90s and today's Audis.

  • yes...unintended acceleration is the most most most stupid thing I have every heard.

  • @Yankijs24 it doesn't need to be an automatic... i have a 5 speed...

  • I love Audis, but a few downsides on this video ...

Were you really reviewing this car or your sound system and your wires? ...

You didn't even turn the engine on, which was probably a beautiful 5cylinder engine.

And of course, a usual ... in USA in needs to be an automatic ...

  • @thestreetninja1

    haha correct

  • THUMBS UP YOU CAME HERE FROM EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS

  • As an Audi mechanic, our heavy workboots often pressed the brake and gas pedals simultaneously, definitely causing unintended acceleration, but on our part (never happened on any manual trans- equipped model, btw). My wife owned one for 3 years, (auto) and it never happened for her, nor for the previous owners. The tunnel created to accommodate the longitudinally mounted transaxle resulted in a narrower footwell area, and the gas and brake pedals were closer to one another.

  • youre audi 5000 my friend.

  • @Andre609 had oen myself

  • 5 cyl power FTW! My only issue with this one is that it is automatic, i miss my 4000S 5cyl5spd5seat.
