  • Dear Santa....

  • I rule on land, air and sea, pass judgement on humanity!

  • @snave86 when will this cease.

  • @adudewholikes At that time, the Warsaw pact didn't have more nukes. Kennedy was informed about this, but he chose to ignore it. Europe would've been fine because the US had far more strategic ICBMs with which it could blackmail the Soviet Union and also, Europe was not the soviets' goal. What they wanted to achieve with that was to shock the American people at such a degree that they would stop developing more powerful nuclear weapons. And they had accomplished this goal.

  • @StiviGun1 The destruction of Europe would've been a bigger shame. The Warsaw Pact had far more nukes, and far more conventional forces.

  • @ViveLRoi Actually, it didn't have intercontinental range. A missile has to a have over 5500 km range in order to be called ICBM. The Polaris had a 4600 km max range. It was not an intercontinental ballistic missile. But it was far ahead of everything the Russians had in this field during the 1950's and early 1960s. It's a shame how America backed down during the missile crisis when they had all the strategic advantage they could have. It's a shame how the soviets managed to scare America.

  • @capworld Thanks for the info. I googled up this class of subs and it seems like it was a very powerful class of subs, in specially for its time. It could carry 16 Polaris missiles. It was far ahead of everything the Russians had. Their ballistic missile submarines were far behind at that time.
