The Catholic Bishops of the Holy Land convened for the Ordinary Assembly of Bishops which gathers Latin-Rite Churches and Oriental-Rite Churches."The main goal of this assembly is to promote the sense of community that exists and must grow within our Catholic Churches in the Holy Land." "The most wonderful thing about this assembly is that we are gathered together and have the opportunity to share and reflect on the reality of our Church." The Patriarch said that he counts on the support of all Christians around the world. "The themes that we discussed are pilgrimages, pastoral activity, the family and especially the Pauline Year." "We ask everyone to remember us in their prayers and during their pilgrimages, and if some have the courage to promote a project in the Holy Land they are very welcome."The bishops gathered with the local community to celebrate the Pauline Year in the Basilica dedicated to Saint Stephen at the École Biblique of the Dominican Fathers in Jerusalem. "Prayer is the centre, as well as unity with this land and this Church that belongs to the Universal Church because our roots are here." "Well yes, this is the year of Saint Paul, we are praying and working; and wishing that the fire that was burning inside Saint Paul may also burn in us."
