Coco Chanel spent the WW2 occupation of Paris with a high ranking Nazi officer in a suite at the Ritz. She was a whore, very fortunate to escape the punishments meted out to other women who consorted with the occupiers.

The more I see old runway shows and compare them to now they more I see a difference. Designers were inspired and I'm not saying the they're aren't anymore but it seems like it's more about the money that the actual artwork of the clothes. Are they good quality? Yes. But the designers back then had a passion pouring their blood sweat and tears into making a couture outfit so that women can where them. I can say that Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel are my favorite designers.

Exactly Chanel was designed by a woman and it always should be. Why does Karl Lagerfeld deny women of different skin colour and body types from the line? Chanel didn't build her business to exclude women. That goes for Yves Saint Laurent too. He didn't exclude models like Lagerfeld. Karl Lagerfeld will always be 2nd to Laurent because Laurent knew what looked good on women. YSL barely has black models on the runway. Yves would be crying in his grave from disappointment.
I am doing my history day project on coco chanel. I love your documentary? Where did you find some of your photos?

I did this like three years ago, and its not even the original, but we just researched like a lot of different stuff since primary source documents were key in this project. We scanned a lot of the pictures, so if you just do a lot of research not on the web you can find some quality stuff, and of course databases like Jstor or Gale.
Good luck with your project! idk if its the same, but definately hit it home on historical context
