It depends on what you are looking for. I've spent a month in st-lucia this summer with less than 1100 dollars (including plane tickets, from canada). It was a wonderful experience, much better than going on a tourist cruise for 1000 a week.

i would love to go to there to bad its mostly american prices and super expensive.
You can go to asia for six months with like 5000bucks in your pocket. Thats almost what 2 planetickets to the carribiean costs from europe.
