Two great traditional Irish tunes played on a tenor banjo. Nothing more need be said, save apologies for the A/V delay.

  • lovelyplaying mucker! i play the tenor too, and youve given me nice ideas on how to play the banshee :)

    triplets go bréa!

haha luck and plucking joe x

  • Cheers, Sarah, and thanks, though I've posted about 200 more videos since this that are (I think) much better. Post some vids playing the tenor; I'd love to see them.

  • Lol sorry that was my cousin Joe posting cos I forgot to log out on their pc! I'll pass the message on xx

  • No worries, Sarah. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • So, you were a 5-stringer before - how long did it take you to get up to this standard on the tenor?

  • Ah, well I figured I might have written that in a somewhat confusing way. I meant I picked up the tenor banjo after playing other instruments, but not the 5-string. I've played plectrum instruments (mandolin, bouzouki, etc.) for about six years. I picked up the tenor banjo about four years. Sorry if I confused you.

  • @wqpeb Chicago. Musical instrument. 1930.

    Nuff Said.

I'd love to find a banjo from the thirties or earlier, myself.

  • Very nice!! Could you tell me what key The Banshee is in(and if you use "Irish" tuning or standard)? also maybe I could get the chords for it?

    Thanks for the video

  • Hey man nice playing.

What kind of plectrum are you using?

  • I have a chance to get my old da's banjo.

A Slingerland Maybelle Queen from 1930 Chicago.

    Any good ?

Otherwise, will let it go elsewhere.

  • Badass! Lovin the little triplets on the A over the two bars and the tastefully selected bass harmonies.

Your channel is the go-to place for me to hear some alternative ornaments in tunes when i'm practicing at home.
