Shot in August 2001, two westbound norfolk Southern trains pass Conway Yard on the former Conrail (former Penn Central/Pennsylvania) mainline. Conway Yard is located west of Pittsburgh, and is one of the largest rail yards in the eastern United States. Eastbound coal on the Ohio River is also seen.

This footage is taken from my full length "Fade to Black" Norfolk Southern DVD available at www.videotrains.com

  • Spectacular catch and video

  • Do they not run that many trains in upstate NY?

  • I'm lucky if I see 1 CP, or NS train up here in Upstate, NY. That's why I'm heading to Pittsburgh in March to check out Conway, Conn Pitt, Altoona, and sand patch.

  • Glad you caught this, brings back many memories of ex-cr power in my childhood :)

  • Huge busy double hump yard at one time, I think they removed the eastbound hump yard now, after NS took over.

  • those are switch motors

  • I live 5 blocks from an NS terminal so I see trains on a daily basis. Problem is I see the same exact locomotives cuz all they do is switch, push-n-pull cars brought in from Enola yard in Harrisburg and classify them into trains heading towards Philly.

  • woo train spotter lol. I see more tains than tyhis

  • if you have Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 you can download Altoona with the Horseshoe Curve, and Pittsburgh

  • add &fmt=18 to the end of the video url for higher quality
