Supposedly, I was going to finish the book for this speech I needed for school. I was halfway through and I remember that Koichi really had a wife and I think he was a chef or something..? He wasn't mentioned after that scene. I really pity Hatsumomo. :( She's been living a sad life.

I know everybody's going to disagree, but i feel sad for Hatsumomo. I mean, if you look at it from her point of view, nobody actually wanted her around, she made money, that was it. Ya she had a temper, but you'd be pissed off too if sombody came along looking twice as better and easily loved more by everyone. But... burning down the okiya??? maybe a little excessive.

I agree with you, If i were Hatsumomo I'd have a bad temper and pissed off every day too. Imagine having the only thing that's important to you stripped away from you, and then having everyone tell you that you are worthless and old.
