'We are the University' movement occupied the University of Auckland Business School (Owen G Glen Building) for around four hours. Police arrived around 6pm, and at around 6.15 the protesters left the building.

One protester (who was apparently not a student of the University) was arrested and put into the police vehicle. The protesters surrounded the car to try and stop it from leaving, but were dispersed by other officers.

(The original recording was about a minute longer than this, but my phone ran out of memory. I guess that's why it's a bit jerky at the end as well.)

  • So exactly why was he arrested again?

  • @Nubleus86 Well I stand to be corrected, because this is just what I've heard, but I understand that he wasn't a student and had previously been trespassed from the University. I'm sure that's not all there was to it, but if that's factually accurate then I image that was their ostensible justification.

  • @Nubleus86 Here's some video of the actual arrest...

  • Could someone please explain what this is about so I can put a few pieces of this puzzle together?

  • @noordinarymoment In a rare move for them, the Herald have put together a reasonably good summary of events: bit.ly / oM1vGC

  • i had the same aerial view!!

  • @KanikMongia 3news have some good ground-level shots as well.

  • It's sad to watch our University fall in world rankings, to see students voices eroded...

  • yes, the whole world is watching you lot behave like a bunch of twats...

  • @TrueBritishPatriots this is new zealand...

  • Well done to the protesters for trying instead of pointlessly just chanting. And kudos to the small amount of people who moved to reinforce the protesters that the cops were shoving. Nice to see Aussies have balls at least. I think you should adopt part of the USA's national anthem - their lack of a direct response to the TSA shows they don't need the "home of the brave" part any more

  • Step 1: Get in the car

Step 2: Press the gas pedal

    Stap 3: Win

  • police 1 , degenerates 0

  • @2:13 onward, the cop could have used far less force to make his way through...

  • Good on the cops for dealing with it without making more useless arrests, the last thing we need is giving these idiots the ability to be a martyr for their idiotic cause, that theyre only supporting because it goes against the government. The same one that pays them to be time wasters. Get a life and act like mature adults.

  • 'we are the university' protesters achieve nothing videos. Losers. have a shower and go get a job.

  • A POLICE SCRUM, how very CROWN THUGS 2011 umm, I mean World Cup 2011.

I think this game will be won by the people eventually. It seems the ref (law) was looking (blindly) the other way again.

Wake up folks. We are the power we hold the key.

    Use it.
