Since it's new year, I figured that this tutorial will fit to occassion ^^
How to Create Fireworks in Photoshop CS3
What you need:
-Photoshop
-Picture to edit, preferrable a skyline one.
Step 1: Create a new layer above the picture you will edit and select the elliptical marquee tool.
Step 2: Create a circle on the place where you want your firework to be.
Step 3: Using the paintbucket tool, fill the selected area with BLACK.
Step 4: Go to Filters - Noise - add noise
Step 5: Use the following adjustments:
Amount: 40%
Distribution: Gaussian
Monochromatic: Checked
Step 6: Go to Images - Adjustments - levels
Step 7: Use the following values for the first, second and third box: 120, 0.90, 200
Step 8: Go to Filters - Blur - Radial Blur
Step 9: Use the following values:
Amount: 20
Method: Zoom
Quality: Best
Step 10: Change the layer mode to Linear Dodge (Add)
Step 11: Go to Image - Adjustments - Hue/Saturation. Check the Colorize Checkbox and from here, you can choose the color of your firework by moving the Hue and Saturation slider. Don't touch the Ligheten slider.
Step 12: Disselect the area (Ctrl+D) and select the elliptical marquee tool again, setting the feather to 25px. Create a smaller circle inside the firework.
Step 13: Go to Image - Adjustments - Hue/Saturation. Again, check the Colorize checkbox and choose the color for the inner part of your firework.
Step 14: Change the opacity of the layer so that it will look more realistic.
Step 15: You can duplicate the layer (Ctrl+J) and resize it (make sure to hold the Shift button so that it will stay circle) or repeat from step 1 to create a fireworks display.
That's It! Happy new year and Goodluck :)
