I actually find jigs being easier to play than reels using the clawhammer style these days. Same thing on the tin whistle. Something about the rythm and the speed. When I learned the basics of clahammer I did not even touch the 6/8 or anything like it as you say :) And it was really hard first to get the right hand moving as it should! But after a while it feels really natural. I'm far from your level of banjo skill though! Just comparing my own skill when it comes to reels and jigs etc.

NICE... Kind of bouncing between Ol' time and Blues... LOVE IT! way behind my skill lvl... BUT! something to keep in the back of the ol' banjo data bank...

By making sure that the nail is used to strike the first and third note in each group of three eighth notes, even a novice player can start tackling some simple jigs. The cool sounding blues lines will come later...
