Once considered a compact pistol option, the Sig P239 understandably has many faithful followers. It remains an well-proven design. That's because the P239 shares many of the excellent characteristics of its larger stablemates like the P225, P228, and P226. Expect excellent accuracy, a fine single action trigger (once transitioned from DA in firing), great sights, lots of accessory options, superb reliability, excellent fit and finish, and the ability to do quick follow up shots. This speed in firing is partially due to the substantial 29.5 oz weight. That's a lot for a gun that just provides 8+1 rounds of firepower. Moreover the carry package is no longer competitive in the compact category, given today's more size-efficient competitors like the Kahr PM9/40 or Kel-Tec PF-9. Those guns offer similar firepower with substantially less weight and bulk. So don't expect the P239 to function in the officers backup role really; its just too heavy and bulky. However as a primary CCW or off-duty gun the P239 will excel when paired with a well-designed holster (shoulder or IWB preferred). Many fans have found that the additional bulk and weight is a good thing and enhance the outstanding shootability of the P239. Ergos on the gun, like most Sigs, are excellent and many female shooters will love the smaller grip circumference (and lessened recoil compared to other polymer guns). Add in a super simple takedown and high retained resale values and the attraction to the P239, even today, remains intact. If you can accommodate the weight and limited rounds, the outstanding Sig P239 is one of best compact-full-size pistol options available. For me, Sigs remain my "1911." /////////////Nutnfancy Likeability Scale: 8 of 10

  • Dude love the video buddy! Any experience with the P6 or the 225??

  • He's talking about the loaded weight, I think, 29.5 is what sig shows as loaded, Nutn should have mentioned that. Don't really like his comparing a compact, the 239, with a subcompact PM9, but whatever.

  • I dont know what gun you are talking about but all modern sig p239 weigh a little over 17 oz

  • @redmunkee totally agree man for only getting one more round in the 9mm vesion I would take the 40 or 357 sig any day.

  • I've carried Kahr's and shot them a lot. Great gun for CCW and all that other stuff until ya shoot it. My accuaracy with it was poor. I switch to the P239 or M&P9c for CCW.

  • @mendojohnk1971 Calm down.

Read some books by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman where the terminology first became common/popular.

  • @CampingestBoyAlive I don't think that has anything to do with it. It's the 21st century and people are so sensitive, it's pathetic. People have been calling things that are stupid or something you don't agree with gay for at least 20+ years. This was a stupid question, sorry to say but yeah this was stupid.

  • Getting this gun in 9mm is kinda pointless, but in .40 or .357 sig chambering; that's when it starts to shine. A lighter pistol in a similar caliber will be hell to shoot, just too snappy IMO. But the added heft yet slimmer profile on the P239 does make for a good primary conceal carry gun in either of those two calibers I previously mentioned.

  • @aa3680 Its coming.......SIG P938..........

  • @excelerater I totally agree that Sig should make a version of the P238 in 9mm, it would totally rock. P238's are pricey but I love mine shoots great, and with the extended 7rd mags, firepower is on par with its competition.
