On the occasion of Stephen Schneider's first death anniversary, I wrote this poem. I'm a mediocre poet, a bad video editor and a very bad reader but I felt I had to make it because otherwise nobody else would.
Also English is not my native language.
And yes, I am aware that this jazz piece is based on Albinoni's famous adagio and yes, I am aware that that wasn't actually written by Albinoni, but by a 20th musicologist by the name of Remo Giazzotto.
I chose this music because it is also used in a film called Adagio which symbolizes beautifully the struggle of the just with the forces of ignorance and therefore applies very well to the story of the harrassed climate scientists. You can watch this extraordinary short here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG-TL0S3sN8
I also wrote this as an anticipated requiem for a murdered climate scientist. I passionately hope it won't come that far. I hope that through the spreading of this message, I can contribute to prevent a worst case scenario.

  • Ah! Stephen died of heart failure, after a plane flight to England. He had elected to receive R-CHOP, a really nasty brew of chemotherapy. It cured his cancer, but damaged his hear.

My daughter had the same course, she is still alive, thankfully.

But yeah, in a way you could say he was murdered, because the pollution we are spewing out is what causes much cancer in the first place.

    Lovely video.

I know it might seem like I'm claiming he was murdered. It's not meant to be realistic, but rather vision-like.

  • I understand, it is poetic license! I just meant, that it may have had more of a connection than you realized. My daughter has permanent heart damage - it's a result of the treatment. So she gets tired easily.

  • creepy. i love it!
