A sunny day April 23 and the Male Masonry Bees have hatched first. They have been patroling the nest holes in logs for Females for a few days. Here a female can be seen entering a hole, the males are chasing each other off in the hope of coquering the female.
When a male is in the right place at the right time they can be seen to drop together mating as they fall.
Sorry Samsung NC10 Webcam quality only.
