Learn how to get your hips to do the "Cuban Motion". This is a popular hip action for many dances especially the Latin dances (Salsa, Cha Cha, Rumba, Merengue, etc...). Instructor: Michael Thomas. Video take at The Arts Center in Cartersville, GA on August 20, 2008. Visit www.michael-thomas.com for more free videos.
It would help me immensely if Michael Thomas wore light colored pants. It is very difficult for me to distinguish between his black legs and the black backdrop.

arrrgh, hes a ballroom dancer, that explains it....
That isn't rumba, its bloody son :p (guys go google rumba, and son...you can learn what rumba actually is and you can learn what the ballroom version is...rumba is an afro cuban dance...not a ballroom dance and it looks nothing like this)

In fact, if you watch him, his shoulder moves before his hip, his shoulder is leading the motion

From what I know, cuban motion is lead from the shoulders, not the hips. the shoulders push out nd the hips follow...thats how I was shown it in cuba at least...
its certainly not derived from the hips

What he is saying is accurate but he is not dancing/demonstrating correct cuban motion. His feet are not turned out and he does not have any technique.

I'm not sure if this is going to improve my dancing but I think you solved my slicing problem with my driver. :-)
