Somalia's refugees crisis - 07 Dec 07

The refugee crisis in Somalia is growing as thousands flee Mogadishu to escape fierce battles raging through the capital.

It's a situation the UN describes as worse than the Darfur refugee camps in Sudan.

In the absence of relief aid, a humanitarian crisis is now looming large.

Al Jazeera has visited the refugees and found them left exposed to the elements.

There was a peace achieved from within Somalia by the popular Somali Islamic Courts Coalition. But then the US, with its Ethiopian proxy, plunged another country into killings and chaos to serve its own interest.

I agree with you..and the worst part is that the immigrants we're bringing in mostly end up on welfare, left for Canadians to sustain while they continue to have kids and live like animals. Makes me angry...immigration laws needs to toughen up...we need quality, not quantity!

I waited until I was economically secure before I had kids. I'm 42 now and expecting a baby in a few months. The question I have is why these people continue to bring children into a nighmare life? It's selfish. These kids weren't asked to be born. So, now what? I'm betting more kids are being brought in. In Canada people are having less kids and we have to bring immigrants here to help us sustain our population.
