For many Ugandans, boxing is their national sport. The East African country has produced world-class fighters, but many of the toughest aren't prepared to step into the ring with Bashir Ramathan -- even though he is blind.
I grapple [kuk sool won (non-striking) , jiujitsu, wrestling] with my eyes closed. And this works quite well for me. I tend to focus more on the situation that I'm in. However, when I tried this approach to the striking arts [Western boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing, kuk sool won katas/forms and sparring] I found it a bit more challenging. It isn't impossible and it will make you better but it's a different environment.
this is really good and shows that even if you have a disability not to give up on your passions. i know i guy just like the one in this vid he is blind and loves boxing.
Like the newscaster said, he can't get any work because he's blind. Things are real messed up in Uganda for the average person, much less a man like him. They don't have nearly the same opportunities that US has. He literally has nothing else going for him but boxing. Besides, it's still good training for the other fighters. Advanced martial artists learn how to fight without the use of sight to sharpen the other four senses. If you want to help him find something better, feel free.
No cuz you can be very successful playing the piano just like Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles.....but you cant box without your eyes. In reality if he fought competitively he would get Knocked out very easily
