A huge fuel storage tank in the Fairfax Industrial District of KC-KS is struck by lightning during these storms.

The tank- located at the site of the old Phillips 66 refinery- was loaded with unleaded automobile gasoline- worth almost $10-million at this day's $3.65 per gallon price.

  • so scary

  • I THINK I recall this, well I recall it, but I think it happened the night some serious weather took place. I was with my best friend leaving the Lee's Summit Walmart and the sirens started going off. Called my grandma and she told me what was up so we rushed over to Godfathers for dinner where the rain really came down hard.
