I turn on my flashlight at 3:43.

Video from our 2012 John Muir Trail hike July 27th-August 18th. This video takes place on day 8. Luna and I shared the hexamid solo plus the whole trip. Pitched the Zpacks Hexamid plus just below treeline before going over Silver Pass because we got warned by hikers going NOBO that there was a really bad storm headed our way. Grape to quarter sized hail dumped on us for 20minutes before easing into a heavy rain. A fellow hiker's tarp setup failed under the weight of the hail and wind and retreated into our hexamid plus. It was a tight squeeze with three people in a 1.5 person tent but she held up beautifully. Was a bit scary but overall an exhilarating experience. I was concerned that the ultralight 0.51oz cuben fiber would not hold up against the bombardment. The shelter performed beyond my expectations, although I did have to re-stake the shelter because the weight from the hail pelting pulled most of the stakes halfway out or shifted them in the dirt. Unusual sized hail for being the "dry season" in the Sierras. From day 8 till the end of the trip we experienced thunderstorms with hail and rain almost every day. A+ for the hexamid solo plus. I purchased this model in late 2011, so it is the stitched version. The newer hexamids are all seam bonded, and even stronger. Check them out at www.zpacks.com. Video shot with go pro hd hero.
