25 acres of switchgrass are burned in Polk County, Iowa. A 30-foot wide buffer was plowed around 25 acres of switchgrass then a backburn was started along the downwind side of the burn area. This video shows the lighting of the prairie from the windward side of the field. A drip lighter was used to set the field afire.
we do prescribed burns here in southern california, too--this kind of fire can be so very redemptive; thanks for the video!
