AWESOME! THANKS!
schiller in his gambit opening repertoire comic book totally ignores 2...d6 and trying to answer it has driven me nuts! this will REALLY help me not get all of my pieces on losing squares before move 8 finally. i just tried to play it like his goring with 3.c6 inviting a bishop pin and a collapsed position playing defensively by move #4!
i hate it when GMs dismiss the very lines amateurs play most often. 2...d6 is VERY COMMON at the amateur level

Thank you!

1. e4 e5
2. Nf3 d6
3. d4 Bg4
4. dxe5 Bxf3 (if 4...dxe5? 5. Qxd8+! Kxd8 6. Nxe5! with strong attack)
5. Qxf3 dxe5
6. Bc4 and white has a very comfortable position. (6...Nf6 is met by the strong 7. Qb3!, attacking b7 and f7 at once)

what happens if...
1. e4 e5
2. Nf3 d6
3. d4 Bg4
what do you do when the bishop goes to g4 on that turn? isn't that pretty strong for black?
-
by the way... it's fianchetto... pronounced fianKetto

The eighteenth century was a long time ago! ha, ha.

@aznlyter very bad move cuz then white can pile up on the d6 pawn in the future =/
-
what would you do if black just pushes his pawn to c5?
just check with Bb5?
1.Bb5+ Nc6
2.Nxc6 bxc6
3.Bxc6+ Bd7
4.Bxa8 Qxa8
