In this four part video I show how I created Bertie the Pipebomb's hands in Modo using the spline cage modeling technique.

  • hi nice tuts I like your modeling I am using lightwave for about a year and I thing of switching to modo??? and I want to know which is a better software to use?? and why you are modeling using modo rather than lightwave and thank you

  • @vexelworrior For me it's all about personal preference and it mostly comes down the user experience. I also think the renderer/preview were much faster/better when I first started using Modo. NewTek seems to have closed that gap somewhat with LightWave 10.

I was a LightWave user for years when I heard about Modo back when it was at version 1. I tried a trial and I really like it. It felt like a natural progression and improvement upon the LightWave workflow. You should give it a try sometime!

  • @seborgarsen: if you are selecting vertices that are currently connecting curves, then hitting "P" will create a new curve using those verts. This is the same effect as hitting "shift-o" for an open curve. If you're selecting verts that connect polys, or verts that are not connected at all (zero-poly verts) then hitting "P" will create a face. Does that help?

  • nice tutorialll
