  • Also, The box set's release date is 10/26/10. I hope the movie itself gets a nice rerelease through RHINO and the stereo soundtrack added in widescreen with any bonus stuff that ended up on the cutting room floor. The criterion BBS box just says the movie will be in rechanneled mono which is not worth the heftty pricetag! I already have "Easy Rider" and "Five Easy Pieces". Both must have films!

  • @oozilchoo Isn't the newly-constructed stereo mix for the Blu-Ray only? At least in the short term, I'm guessing.

  • @pauldullson I always thought of "HEAD" a non- stop continuous movie by starting where it ends and repeating, full circle! for the year it was made, to me it amazes me how the older it gets, the movie becomes more and more relavent. It bombed in the cinema, became a cult film in video and now concidered (by some, including me) is a masterpiece! I never tire of the movie or the soundtrack! Again, thanks Paul for sharing that great audio and cool graffics! You must be a Monkee-nut like me! LOL

  • @oozilchoo Indeed so. Do a Google search for "SOTCAA Gives Good Head" - there's part of a mini-site I co-wrote with some very interesting info. I gather the forthcoming DVD will be cropped to its original widescreen aspect ratio (lopping off the top and bottom of the screen), but - hopefully - sourced from the original negative rather than the cinematic print with reel-change holes sourced for every release so far. The VHS editions are the oddest - they physically zoom out during Ditty Diego!

  • This is a priceless interview! Thanks for the post! As far as I know, Colgems released to promo interview "platters" (records) The one that is to be included on the new box is with Davy only, this is much more rare! Where on earth did you fing this? Also, It doesn't sound like a vinyl record. Could this be from the master? Great quality and it's awesome to hear Timothy Carey (RIP) rave about the film and here the now reclusive Annette Funicello (suffering from MD or MS, either one is crippling.)

  • @oozilchoo A friend found this as a track on a bootleg 3-CD set called 'Head Shots' a while back (the 'Hy Litt Show' and Circle Sky overdub audios came from the same set). It certainly doesn't appear to have been well documented anywhere. Looking forward to hearing the Davy Jones Head promo LP on the new set (hopefully the sheet containing the DJ questions will be reproduced as part of the packaging!)

  • Love the Lp "Moving" Animation,Paul! How'd you do that? It's Beautiful

  • There was, reportively,an Extra 30 Minutes of film Rafelson (or Columbia) threw away..sadly,it's now lost forever. Also, whenit came time for the Filming,an angry Nesmith, because of an altercation with Nicholson, took and stashed in his Station Wagon, the precious Cassettes with the Plot plans! Nicholson went into the desert and wrote a new script! It was not Well-Received by The Group!

  • @pauldullson (Cont.) then I read Rhino is doing a deluxe DVD, Double disc all in stereo including the non-music parts with some tasty bonus features. I am so pysched- out to get the CD Deluxe set next week I haven't gotten the latest on the DVD's release. Not owning a blu-ray yet, if it IS in fact better, this will give me reason to get a blu-ray deck! BTW, ever though the graffics for the the revolving "The Monkees" on the HEAD cover isn't much, I love it! It kind of is like the movie...

  • @pauldullson there are so many conflicting reports! First I heard all stereo remix and properly matted. If you currently have the Rhino officially released DVD, and your player can zoom out, you can see what you are missing on the right and left side especially during the Ditty Diego part. Then I read "re-channeled mono" (which I'm guessing is like the US re-channeled Beatles' versions of "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You") which would be a bummer. Then .... (see above)
