This is a brief video taken from my HTC EVO from this years Military Radio Collectors Group West Coast: Summer Field Day event at Santa Paula Airport in Santa Paula, California. Roughly have a dozen field stations were set up across town and attempted to communicate or pass traffic with one another using military surplus gear dating back to WW1 on amateur radio frequencies. At net control we were set up to operate on 75, 40, 10, 6 and 2 meters using a variety of modes including USB, AM and FM.
In this video, John Castorina - WB6AZP (foreground) is seen demonstrating a Teledyne Systems Corp R-390A High Frequency receiver while a Western Union teleprinter prints out news and high seas weather forecasts being broadcast via RTTY from Coastal Station KSM at Point Reyes in Northern California.
