On June 27, 1844, Joseph Smith, Jr., beloved Prophet of the Restoration, and his brother Hyrum were martyred by a mob of some 200 hateful men in Carthage, Illinois. This eight minute video is an excerpt from the movie "Joseph".

  • Have you ever seen or fired a pepperbox pistol. It is a very very very small caliber gun with absolutely no peneration power. If you shot anyone with it you would just piss them off.

  • joseph smith was NOT a martyr. The definition of martyrdom is a person who WILLINGLY gives their life for their religious, philosophic, or political beliefs. When you kill two people and wound a third trying to keep them from killing you thats not willingness. This is information that the leaders of the mormons know. the tour guides of carthage jail know this info and are told not to tell people this story but a romanticized version of the story.

Aaronshaf's presentation may be "based on years of careful study and evidence" but I think the years of careful study belong to someone else. If you read the noted articles, you will have the same knowledge and possibly from the same source.

I base my conclusion--that Joseph did not kill anyone--onthe lack of "proof" that any of the men shot by Joseph died from those wounds. My source is fairlds.org, click on "Topical Guide" then "Smith, Joseph" then "Martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum" You can read the articles and draw your own conclusions.

After being named in the indictment, all 3 men left the area. Before they ran, 2 of them were "rewarded" for their participation in the murders of Joseph & Hyrum.

  • Oh...you're not arguing...I see? So you don't have proof that Joseph Smith "did not" kill anybody...you just gave me a long explanation discrediting my assertion that Joseph did kill two people but you won't provide a record or report or some proof that supports your belief. I told you that I'll listen...I'm open to the evidence...just show me.

  • You give us proof first, as your the one who is arguing.

  • @GaryKColeman Do you have proof that Joseph Smith did not kill anybody....I'll listen...give me the proof.

The night before the crucifixion of Jesus, Peter resisted possible death by denying the condemned Christ 3 times. Should Peter have behaved "like a gentle, humble little prophet who gave his life in his final hours?"

For years, Paul resisted being put to death through Rome's legal & judicial system, taking advantage of every provision of Roman law that might aquit him. Was Paul "an ambitious person, seeking self-aggrandisement?"

  • @GaryKColeman @GaryKColeman OK...Fine...let's say Joseph didn't kill anybody. (Although you too did not provide any "proof" that he didn't - only a statement). He still shot into the crowd. The point is, he still went out like Jesse James, not like a gentle, humble little prophet who gave his life in his final hours. Joseph Smith was an ambitious person, seeking self-aggrandisement.
