Floor Exercise is my favourite event and Elena Davydova's perfect 10 from the team finals at the 1980 Olympic Games is one of my all-time favourites. The choreography is perfectly suited to her, and she really knows how to sell a routine.

  • Is an arabian 1 3/4 still in the code of points?

  • No - it is a banned move now

  • As much as I'd have loved to see a healthy Elena Muchina, there's no denying what a fabulous all arounder Davydova also was--sorry, Bela Karolyi, but Nadia herself said that Elena was the better gymnast in that phase of the competition.

  • Is she the first female gymnast to do a rebounding skill in international competition?

  • she and nadia had the same hair.. haha.. its hard to imagine non of the canadian girls that she coached today is half as good as she is..

  • @elgande89 no it's not the same move. Davydova is only 1& 3/4 salto with 1/2 twist and tucked. Mukhina's skill that she paralyzed herself on was 1& 3/4 salto with 1.5 twists and it was layed out. Davydova was also healthy here and Mukhina was still recovering from a broken leg

  • @nuwanda3333 Because women broke their necks on that skill. If you don't get enough height, you crash-land on your head = paralysis and death.

  • @MostepanovaFan why? sorry, I'm curious.

  • @LCAmarkymark It is and in a way it is a bit 'over the top'

  • @LaVoix555 I know its so crazy how hard the scoring is now days.

  • It is interesting how the commentators at that point point out how only 1.5 twist linked with a tucked from was considered "phenomenal" whereas nowadays, it is quite diffrent!

  • ¿Is this first move Mukhina had been training before Moscow Olympics? Here Davydova gets a great height so she could easily roll out. I don´t know if this was a spring floor.Amazing routine at that time and very risky. Anyway, soviet trainers succeeded to have a gymnast performing risky moves. If not Mukhina....another one...daring and in good shape.

  • @markedexclusive Yes I actually think she is.
