April 2010 Artist-in-Residence Eliza Au is using the lost wax casting method to create a delicate glass prayer rug, meant to reflect the fragility of religion and belief. Much of her work is influenced by Gothic wrought-iron fences or Islamic tile and textile patterns.

  • Wow~~~ Eliza~~ you are soooooooooo great!! ^^ See you soon.

  • I took recently took a class on this in Czech. The glass was not poured. Instead, at the diamond saw you see her cutting off the left over glass sprues. They are the excess of glass chunks that were melted in the kiln and flowed down into the plaster mold area. The little sticks seen in the plaster were most likely air vents allowing air to escape for a perfect casting. The excess glass forces the initial glass into the mold for a complete fill.

  • May I have the information of the background music? Thank you!

  • how i wish they showed how she poured in the glass ;(
