While everything kempobrad said is very true, stances are a good thing to know when you're starting out. This stance is in the taiji style I do, because it takes elements from xing yi. I've always heard it called a "tucked knee" stance. I know, not very exciting.
stances are not fixed, they are transitional positions. focus on the movement, not the static pose. you can generate alot of power from those stances. im not sure, but i call it coiling power. you sink but twist without necessarily pivoting your feet, then you can explode everything you have in the opposite direction. like a spring

Stance is known in Xing Yi as San Ti Shi, and while it varies between styles, it is the most important aspect of Xing Yi training
