RST Skier Sam Albert walks you through your first backflip. This was his first time doing backflips on skis so he thought he'd share some tips he learned from the experience.

Post up a vid of your backflip as a response when you get it! Also don't forget to join us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/revolutionarysports

  • @RSTeamFilms Hahaha physics ftw! haha that made my day. and got you a new sub.

  • @mdver34 Score!

  • My friend did backflip in a big jump for the first time and didnt know how much speed he needed. He overrotated and landed on his back. Broked arm, 2ribs and a crack in his ankle :-)

  • @Noikolom That's a good reminder to all of us that progression is key and that skiing is a dangerous sport. Hope your friend has a speedy recovery and will be back on the slopes soon.

  • lol i don't want to sound like a nerd but i remember learning in calculus how tucking in would actually speed up the rotation. That's how figure skaters speed up and slowdown there static rotations.

  • @MaaNonu123 Yup, that's why on bigger jumps you won't see people tuck nearly as much. Same thing on spins, bring in your elbows and feet together to spin faster. Physics ftw!

  • @dallas3yn Just have to ask yourself if it's worth the risk. Ski for yourself and do what makes you happy.

  • SHOULD check out my video of "ski backflips" for head cam view, might also help in learning what to do. good luck!~

  • I can do backflips off of jumps outside of the park, i just dont want to land on hard snow/ice.

  • @Noikolom What the hell was the landing like? Flat ice?

  • @Noikolom Sucks i got a concussion trying a double backflip on a trampoline

  • will try!!!

    maby not..

  • Step1: Practice on a trampoline "Nice I got this!"

Step 2: Build a medium sized kicker "Shit this is the east coast :("

  • @Jamez1818 Yup.

  • @Tijdschrift17 Nice!!

  • looked awesome, great vid. im sure it helped alot of people

  • @LilSteezy802 I think a backflip is easier cause you can spot your landing and therefore you have more controll. On the other side your body is for a longer period of time in a dangerous position - so if it goes wrong - the chance to land on your head is higher. That's the reason why I started with fronts - took less balls. In powder you can just tuck your head and in the worst case you land on your back. In powder u can do that with almost no speed and height.nex try u go faster/higher..done

  • @RSTeamFilms im gonna go try this but do you think its easyier the first tiem without poles?

  • so it's like a tramp scary at first but easy

  • YEAAAAAAA did my first backflip yesterday! landed on 2nd attempt

was on a kicker a bit steeper than normal like you did, next step will be popping hard and doing on normal kickers. i found it quite easy, i cant even do 360s very well

  • Do you pop?

  • @tommybummy. Yep. I have a trampoline and i didnt even think of it till after. I failed my backflip, but i was close.

  • @tommybummy Hell ye

  • Alright i can do 3's 270 outs but i really want to progress and i have NO WHERE where i can practice on a trampoline should i just give it a go??

  • @camsteeze A flip on trampoline is VERY much the same on skiis. Just be confident. You know the trick on trampoline, then you can easily throw it on skiis.
