The Thin Line Between Love and Hate [[chapter 11]]

Angela POV
I went home hoping to shake off what happened earlier. I thought I would be alone, but I didnt see Steve follow me home.

Steve: You were about to kiss that boy werent you?

Angela: No, please, dont hurt me.

Steve: Why not? You deserve it.

My mom walked in. I was hoping it was someone else. She lets it happen. My dad threw me up against the wall and kicked my leg. Then he kicked my stomach. Not my baby. I stood up to go to the kitchen. I grabbed a knife hoping to keep him away from me.

Steve: A knife. Such a good idea.

Angela: please dont.

I heard the front door open.

Kelsey: Angela?

I sighed in relief putting the knife down.

Steve: Youre lucky.

I trembled and walked to the front room.

Kelsey: hey are you ok?

Angela: yeah Im fine.

Kelsey: K. well Im going to go back.

Angela: No! I mean, dont leave me by myself. I just, I miss hanging out with my sister.

Kelsey: Ok. Well, uh do you want to have a movie night like we used to?

Angela: that would be nice.

3 weeks later.
Me and Kelsey were close again, and my anger towards Amy was fading. Cassie had to delay her visit to Texas, and me and nick have been texting, and hanging out when hes free. Hes an awesome guy. Cassie is actually coming down tomorrow. Shes going to freak when she sees who live next to us.

Kelsey: Hey Im going to Joes do you want to go?

Angela: Yeah sure.

We walked over there and knocked on the door. Nick opened it and smiled.

Nick: What a pleasant surprise. Joes in his room.

Kelsey: thanks.

She ran upstairs and I walked in. Nick took my hand and led me out back. Its the little simple things that he does that make me melt. He grabs my hand, and tucks my hair out of my face. He kisses me on the cheek, and is the sweetest guy. Ever since our almost kiss he hasnt tried to since. My dad gets mad that I hang out with Nick, but Kelsey, or Amy, or james, and Collin are usually home so he hasnt beat me a whole lot. But that doesnt mean he doesnt find a chance. I must have spaced out because nick tried getting my attention.

Nick: Angela?

Angela: Huh?

He put his hand on my arm.

Angela: ow.

Nick: Sorry. I didnt-

Angela: its fine.

He looked at my arm. Darn this warm weather, I couldnt hide my bruise from him.

Nick: what happened?

His eyes bore into mine. They were full of concern.

Angela: Oh uh I ran into a wall, Im kind of clumsy.

Nick: well thats a pretty big bruise.

Angela: Yeah, Im just a clutz. Whoops.

Nick: oh.

He continued to look into my eyes. He started to lean in when Joe and Kelsey came out back.

Kelsey: oh sorry did we interrupt something?

Nick: Uh no.

I stepped back disappointed.

Joe: Well we just wanted to let you know that we are going out now.

Angela: Have fun.

Kelsey: you ok?

Angela: Yeah Im fine. Ill see you at home.

Kelsey: Ok.

They left and me and nick sat on the porch swing with our hands intertwined. I didnt know where we stood. Kevin, Joe, Amy, and Kelsey always say we look and act like a couple, but he hasnt asked me out, and we havent kissed.

Angela: Where do we stand?

I looked over at him, he looked like he was not sure what to say.
