This is what I was contending with for the entire ride. He'd refuse to walk away from where he felt comfortable, and threw in a few pigroots as well for good measure. Didn't get any of them on tape though!
(Chief is an OTTB, this is only my 8th or so ride on him).

  • Oh I know how annoying that can get when a horse naps. Mine does it with me a lot, but when he naps he sometimes bolts, so I have to do an emergency stop. A stronger more confident leg will encourage him to go in the right direction, and talk to him calmly to let him know it's okay to go there, that's its safe. You might sound mad talking to a horse, but I do it with my Bailey all the time, and it does work =] Beautiful horse!
