This 4th tutorial shows how to connect and set-up a device/instrument (in this tutorial it's an electric guitar) to your Motif XS audio input, how to apply 2 effects, how to record the audio together with a perfomance to a song or pattern and finally how to export the whole song to your hard disk as a .wav file. Please take a look to all 3 first tutorials to get answers for direct parts of the proccess like perfomance recording, microphone-vocoder use and how to save directly to your PC with a crossover cable connection.

  • never owned an ES...sorry! But I am assuming you can because the ES is similar to the XS in its audio inputs/connections.

  • how do i save the pattern on my motif, the drums the bass the piano sound enz enz, its saved on cubase but not on my motif please explain thnx

  • Thank you This was very helpful :)

  • Excellent vid, - why Yamaha couldn't have explained it this clearly in the user manual I don't know. Now I just need a tutorial like this on sample slicing and time stretching to match different tempos

  • Hi CMorganis

I've been trying for many times to do the same but instead an Elec. Guitar, I use a microphone (AUDIO IN). I can record my voice in one of the tracks of the songs, but when I finish singing and go back the SONG, it never appears the track in Blue color (indicating this is a sampled track..

    Am I missing something?

Do I need to SLICE after recording ???

You have your sampling directly in track 5....If you press play button....would it sound together with the rest of tracks

  • hello, I can not edit samples.ejemplo, release, attack, decay, etc,,,

  • dude you look just like robert downy jr. thx for the vid, it was helpful

  • Thank you so much for putting this on. I just bought a Motif XS6, and need to record some small audio samples to be able to cue up live for songs. Is it pretty much the same application as here? Thanks

Also after reading the manual, looks like I gotta buy 2 identical DIMM modules to save samples.

  • thank you so much. my user manual is written in Egyptian

  • Hi cmorganis! I bougth a Motif XS this week, and I edited a voice, but when I save the new voice i don´t know how to change the name. Do you know how to change the name of the voices? Thank you! =)
